Alongside the picturesque old town with its porticoed arcades, traditional restaurants and churches, the modern, stylish city of Bozen resounds with Mediterranean chic, contemporary architecture, designer shops and an alluring atmosphere of Italian style and the dolce vita. So, is Bozen is the northernmost city of Italy or the southernmost city if the German speaking lands? When you’re sitting sipping a Veneziano in Piazza Walther, the most beautiful piazza between Munich and Verona, you’ll see for yourself: It’s a question that, quite simply, has no answer.
Small city, great experiences.
A trip to Bozen is an absolute must: Just 9 km from here, Bozen is a city where art and tradition meet with culture and lifestyle, and the atmosphere is like no other.
The multi-faceted capital city.
The venue of all venues: The fruit market.
If you want to get into the heart of Bozen life, make your way to the Obstmarkt - the fruit market. This is the street where locals and tourists meet up, where fresh fruit and veg stalls take their place alongside South Tyrolean delicacies and exotic pleasures for the palate. In autumn, the air is filled with the scent of roast chestnuts, in winter the mulled wine brings warmth and cheer to visitors and stall holders alike, and at all times of year, you can enjoy a chat at the sausage stand. Our top tip: take the free bus straight to the city centre!
Christmas cheer!
When the mountains are blanketed in white and the mouthwatering scent of gingerbread, roast chestnuts and cinnamon pervade the air, it’s Advent time in Bozen, and the Christmas market is the place to be. Christmas markets with artisan stalls also entice visitors to numerous other towns and villages - in Sarntal, for example, where the small market is overflowing with artisan creations. Here at the Hirschen, we are close to all of them - and with the free Bozen Card that we give you when you stay here, you can get to all of them free of charge.
