Living sustainably - our grandmother was an expert! And we do things the same way today—we’ve just updated it a little. People who strive for sustainability get their reward: We are the proud recipients of the Michelin Green Star, the Sustainability South Tyrol certification, and are one of only 12 hotels in the region to have received international certification for sustainable tourism from the GSTC Council.
They say that the heart and soul of a good hotel is the landlady—and there are quite a few of us here at the Hotel and Restaurant zum Hirschen in Jenesien, South Tyrol, where we’ve been doing our bit for women’s power since 1935!
Sustainability is nothing new here at the Gasthof zum Hirschen…
Your soul is begging for your undivided attention!
It’s hard to stand still when the treadmill never stops turning. That’s what your long-awaited holidays are here for! A few days of fun in the Dolomites may not work miracles, but it will certainly bring the small joys of life to the forefront for a while, and is a blessed treat for the soul. So, come on up, head to the wellness and spa at the Gasthof zum Hirschen and swim all the way to the mountains in the infinity pool—or would you rather sit back in the sauna and count the beads of sweat?
Do you know that feeling of surrendering to the temptations of South Tyrolean cuisine? At the Gasthof zum Hirschen, you can experience it all over again.
Here at the Hirschen, it’s not just the landladies’ hearts that are in the right place…
… the hotel itself could not be in a better place.
The church in the village centre, and the hotel right next door. It’s so gorgeous! Jenesien is beautiful all round and the Gasthof zum Hirschen, at an altitude of 1,100 metres, is the icing on the idyllic-village cake. Just a short cable car, bus or car trip from Bozen, 9 km away, here on the Salten plateau, a whole world opens its doors to you: meadows and forests as far as the eye can see, fresh air to fill your lungs, and spectacular views. It’s no wonder that guests from near and far adore coming here to “lose themselves” in the surrounding countryside.
Riding on the Salten—Our “Unterwirt” horse farm makes it all possible.
The Hirschen also has a horse farm—the Unterwirt—with a herd of Haflingers, riding stables and horse boarding accommodation. If you want to learn how to ride, you can take lessons here—and if you want to go horse riding, your choice of destinations on and around the stunningly beautiful Salten mountain plateau is practically endless…
